After reading on a friends blog, I realized that I am a VERY bad blogger indeed! I realized that she was offering a contest of sorts to "share the love". I LOVE it when she shares and I missed it! So I did not win. So instead of being a sore looser, I decided to "share the love" as well. I am sure all you bloggers out there already know of this program, but if you know me and love me you will want what I have to offer and play the game too! Here is how it will go down.

Chore Chart

I first have to say that this was not my idea...but one that I stole from a Sister at church. I thought it was so cute and I had all the supplies already so it didn't cost me a thing!

Items needed: cork board, material, lace, old jeans, glue gun, ribbon, Popsicle sticks, flowers. black paint, and a staple gun.As the girls get their chores done, they move that flower over to the empty pocket until all the chores are done. Rachel loves this and Emma not so much. So make sure that it is age appropriate.

The New Addition

I am slowly changing the color of my furniture to this darker wood. Currently, the majority of my furniture is a honey oak. Which I still love...but it is time for a change...!

I finally talked Dennis into getting this armoire to hide all the electronics in. It was on top of the fireplace and was such an eyesore. Now the t.v. isn't the center of attention anymore! I just love it! I am currently saving and hording money for a new dining room table...So far I am about half way there! I am so excited for it too! Dennis is also excited...he is putting most of his play/spending money towards it as well! Thank you honey! I love you!

Creative Clothes Pins

I cannot take credit for this cute idea. Actually, It was Amanda that told me about this craft on our cousin Bailey's Blog. So I took a look and decided to join Amanda in making some. We did this while Crab Apple jelly was a cookin' and setting. It was easy and a lot of fun. Even Amanda's 4yr old Lindy got into it! These are some of Amanda's (above and below)
And these are mine. I thought that this is a great way to cheer up someone. Also great for Visiting Teaching gifts. We have yet to get the magnets to go on the back, but that will come soon!

I am going to change the direction that I am going with this blog. I have many friends say that I need to sell the stuff that I do. So I am starting to make 2 of everything and I will be selling one of them on line...either here on this web page or on some other list. So if you like something that I have made and pictured, just e-mail me at karin_mikawa@yahoo.com and let me know which one you like and what colors you would like it in. I am not sure on price as of yet of the things that I have done previously to this post so I think that it would be negotiable.

I don't think that I Will be putting directions under each post anymore...just because it will be a money maker for me. I am sure you understand.

I have done some new things/crafts that I just LOVE so make sure you come back and visit this blog soon...I plan on updating in the next few days.

Mikawa Est. 1997

By far this is one of my most loved crafts that I did. I made this at a Souper Saturday last year. It cost about $14. It came complete with the vinyl lettering and the frame(blank wood) the glass and the ribbon. Most everyone decided to paint their frame black and then spray it with the sealer. I chose to paint mine black, but I did not want the crisp look so I sanded mine down a before I put the sealer on. While I waited for the paint to dry, I applied the lettering to the glass. It is a vinyl lettering that I am sure that they got from a company on line "uppercaseliving.com". After that was done, I glued the glass into the frame and then I thread the ribbon through. It is a sage green color. I plan to change it to a pink or a cranberry color. Something that will "pop"

Kitchen Potted Plant

So all my crafts and painting started when I went to an Enrichment meeting and the activity was painting terracotta pots. This is the second one of this size that I have painted. I have painted many others. I really enjoy painting and I Love to have beautiful plants in my pots that I paint! This one I painted to match my kitchen.

Kitchen Angel

I found this angel in one of the books that I received from a Charmed Moments Convention. It is by DJ Inkers. I had a friend cut out the shape and then I used transfer paper and traced the image on the shape and then I painted it. Well Jenna painted this one. I was making one for my sister in law DeeDee and Jenna wanted to paint too! I think that she did a very good job! for the hair I hot glued it on. I found the hair already in curls in a bag at Michales.

I am a Child of God

I just LOVE Deseret Book! I found this kit there and spent too much money on it but I had to have it! It is vinyl lettering. It came with directions on how to do it. I went to Lowes and found the right size and thickness that I wanted and then had them cut it down to size. I did add an inch on the width and the length than what the directions advised.

I painted the wood and then followed the directions on applying the vinyl lettering. I thought that it needed a little more detail and added the little pink flowers under the red line. I think that it turned out great! It sits on Emma's desk in her room. She loves it and it reminds her that she is a Child of God and that He is always there with her, to lead her and guide her and to walk beside her. Definitely worth the money that I spent!

One of My Favorite Pictures of The Savior

I bought this print and the matte at Deseret Book in Provo before Emma was baptized. In case you couldn't tell from the picture, the little girl is looking at and touching the prints of the nails in the Saviors hand.

I found the frame at Kohls(one of my favorite stores). I have hung it in the girls room. I love it and sometimes I find myself standing and looking at it during the day.

Book Holder

Now this one I had so much fun! I bought this at Michaels. It was plain whatever wood. I then painted it to match my living room. It was a lot of fun to do. I even had a friend that asked me to paint her one! She loves hers as well. I store the Family BOM and church magazines in it. I will always know where to find them!

Fun with Decoupage!

This is something that I taught for Souper Saturday! I took all different material(that matched my living room) cut into pieces! Then I took the Modge Podge and brushed it over each piece and on the matte. Eventually it turns out like this! I then bought the frame and framed in the Proclamation to the World!
This started out as a white lampshade. I then used the same method as above and this is what it turned out like. I added buttons around the top and bottom edge. I used the Modge podge for this also.

The Wall

I wanted to show the wall that I put a lot of my crafts on. We are planning on taking new family pictures. Soon. But these ones of the girls are just too cute!

The figure on the left is 2 bears and in the middle is little wood blocks that have numbers on them. There is also wood blocks that have the months on them and then the numbers set on top. I am also big on angels. There are 2 angels. One on each side of the blocks. Then there is a bear angel with the sign that reads"forever friends"

On the end it is a picture of Dennis and I. Taken not too long after we were married!

I stained(Dennis)the wood shelf that I got on sale at Michaels. Raggidy Anne and Andy Home Sweet Home, I fell in love with at the "White Fence Farm"

I did paint the mattes Blue. they use to be mauvey pinky color. blue matched my decor much better!

Message Blocks

This was another project from "Souper Saturday" There are many phrases that you can spell out. I have even added some pictures like the house you see in red.

This was really fun to make. If you would like to do this craft, just give me call., or drop me a line. I have the pattern.

Of course you can paint it any color that you would like. To match your decor.

The Barn

For those of you who really know me, I LOVE to paint! So I found this barn. I think that it turned out great!

I found the iron rooster at Thanksgiving Point in Lehi, Utah. I thought that it went well with the barn.

Table Center Piece

I am always looking for ideas for center pieces. This is an easy one that I came up with about 2 years ago.

1. I already had the metal watering can. I then purchased the silk flowers from Michaels. I think that they were about $1 for a bunch(4 in a bunch)

2. Then I just randomly placed them in the watering can.

Easy Peasy Lemon Squeazy!

Every once in a while I will freshen it up by taking out all the flowers and starting all over again with placing them in the watering can.

Laundry Sign

This is something that I made about 10 years ago! It was at one of those Souper Saturday things that the Relief Society puts on every year! I still love it! 1. First get a piece of wood (12 inches long, 3 1/2inches wide, 1inch thick)
2. Drill 4 holes near the bottom(measure 1.5 inches from each side and drill a hole,then measure 5.5inches in from each side and drill a hole.(you should now have 4 holes drilled.)
3. Now measure at the top 1 inch in from each side and drill a hole(making 2 more holes)
4. Stain the wood and let dry.
5. Then take a wide angle brush and black craft paint and paint on the words
LAUNDRY 5 c(cents sign)
6. Make a bow with raffia and hot glue in the top left corner.
7. Then take thin wire(about 20 inches long) and thread through from the back and secure in the hole by taking the wire and forming it around a pencil. This will make it so you can hang your laundry sign.
8. Next, take a pair of tube socks(white or grey, all one color. mine is grey-it hides the dust better!).
9. Hot glue them together in the middle .
10. Hot glue the buttons on and also the bows that are on the buttons.
11. Then cut out the patches from those knee patch things that you can buy in the store and Iron on.
12. Add stitch lines with a permanent black marker(to make it look like that is how you stitched the patches on ).
13. Take some twine and tie around the bottom of the socks to make feet. I added little bells to the tie on the feet.
14. Then on the top, take two wires(8 in long) and poke and thread through the sock to make it look like shoulders.
15. Thread the wire thru the back of the wood to the front and then wrap extra wire around a pencil to hold in place.

So that is how it is made. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. I do not remember how much this cost me to make, because it was so long ago. I do love my laundry sign!

Megan's Amazingly Beautiful Cross Stitch!

Years ago Dennis and I found this beautiful cross stitch and had to have it! The only problem was ....I do not cross stitch...I have no patience for it! We decided to ask Megan if she would be able to do it for us. We knew that she enjoyed to cross stitch. Well years later she was able to get it done! We then took a couple more years to get it framed! I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!! Thank you Meg for your time and talent! It turned out beautiful!

This is some material that I found and fell in love with. I plan on making some sort of valance for the dining room window. We have hung the Japanese girl in our dining room. This material matches the cross stitch and the kitchen! I also want to make a matching valance for the kitchen. I already have pink appliances in my kitchen and we have been looking for some new dishes that are the red. It will be great when I can get it all done!

Why another Blog?

I decided to take after my sister in law, Mandy and also my sister Amanda and create a blog for all my krafty things that I have made and LOVE. I want to put on it how I made it. If you like something, you can make it yourself or I can make it for you...for a price...of course. Dennis says that I can make a business out of the things that I do. I love to paint and create things that make my house Kozy. I also love to do it for others. Hope that you enjoy my blog!
